Savor the cultures of the Cape Fear
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear is a melting pot of cultures, and the Azalea Festival will showcase those at the Festival of Cultures.
The Taste of Cultures event on Saturday was a fundraiser for the festival in April. Fifteen area restaurants, from Indian to Greek to Jamaican, brought the best of the best for folks to sample. Traditional Chinese, Hawaiian and Middle Eastern dancers entertained a captivated audience with their unique talents.
“This is the only stage, to my knowledge, within the Azalea Festival, that has a multicultural stage, that has a multicultural performers and the music and the arts and story-telling. So, I think it really brings a lot. It shows the diversity, we’re highlighting, we’re fostering that diversity within our community,” said Azalea Multicultural Committee Chair Yvonne Pagan.
The Festival of Cultures is scheduled for Saturday, April 9th and Sunday, April 10th in downtown Wilmington. Pagan said the beauty of the program is that it is family friendly so people of all ages can learn something new.
