New Hanover willing to accept top bid for chopper

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County may have sold the Sheriff’s old helicopter after all.

The top bid in an online auction for the chopper was $425,000. The county had set the reserve at $438,000.

The county has told gov-deal-dot-com, which ran the auction to let the top bidder know it’s willing to accept the $425,000 big. For now, the county waits on a response.

The Sheriff decided to sell the helicopter after his pilot resigned last fall.
