Four people escape with minor injuries in single-engine plane crash

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Four people suffered minor injuries
after a single-engine plane they were traveling in crashed shortly
after taking off from a Cumberland County airstrip.

Tim Mitchell with the county emergency management agency says
the plane lost power at the end of the runway Tuesday morning and
crashed in some woods about 150 yards from where it took off.

The airstrip is located a few miles north of Fayetteville.

A grandfather and three of his grandsons were on board the
plane. They were taken to a local hospital to be treated for
non-life threatening injuries.

Mitchell says the four were very lucky.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration were heading
to the scene to begin an investigation.
