NC Girl Scout council eyes properties for sale

GREENSBORO, NC (AP) — A 114-acre site in Guilford County will
go up for sale as the regional council works to reduce costs and
streamline operations.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported Wednesday that the
Peaks to Piedmont Council is selling excess property after
reviewing the land it accumulated in the 2009 merger of four
councils in 40 central and western North Carolina counties.

Council spokesman Lisa Crawford says the little-used Camp
Douglas Long south of Greensboro will be the first to be sold. It
has a lake, challenge course and hiking trails.

The price for the camp has not been determined. The sale will
save the organization up to $100,000 annually.

Camp Seven Springs in Davie County and Camp Rotary near Gastonia
are also being considered for sale.
