Ex-Craven County deputy charged in fatal crash

NEW BERN, NC (AP) — Prosecutors say a Craven County deputy has been arrested after he lied about a fatal crash earlier this month.

Bradley Tabor is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and reckless driving in the June 11 wreck on US 70.

District Attorney Scott Thomas told the Sun Journal of New Bern that Tabor was not responding to a call, did not have his blue lights and siren on and was going 100 mph when he hit Mildred Worley’s van from behind around 4 a.m.

Thomas says the deputy told investigators the van was stopped and its lights were off, but troopers determined that was not true.

Tabor was released on a $5,000 bond. A phone listing for him could not be found. He no longer works for the sheriff’s office.
