Tabor City man charged with kidnapping, raping child

TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) — A Tabor City man is in jail for allegedly kidnapping and raping a child.

Police charged 49-year-old Calvin Sherwood Watts with kidnapping, rape and three counts of sexual offense. They say the charges stem from an incident involving an 11-year-old girl Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Watts is in the Columbus County Jail under $250,000 bond.

He’s scheduled back in court July 19.
