16-year-old found shot to death in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A 16-year-old boy is dead after a shooting in Wilmington.

According to a news release, Wilmington Police officers responding to a report of a shooting found the victim lying on the front porch of a house in the 900 block of N. 5th Avenue. The victim was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A police spokeswoman says there are no additional details this early in the investigation. The victim’s identity is being withheld until family members are notified.
