Driver charged with going wrong way on Carolina Beach Road

THE FOLLOWING IS FROM A NEWS RELEASE FROM THE WILMINGTON POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Location: 4000 Carolina Beach Road
Time: 1:27 a.m. – Sunday morning
Offense: Traffic Crash/DWI
Summary: A Jeep Wrangler was traveling north, heading the wrong direction in the southbound lanes of Carolina Beach Road. The Jeep Wrangler collided head-on with a Jeep Patriot that was headed south in the southbound lanes. The two vehicles collided head-on. Both drivers and the two passengers in the SUV sustained serious injuries. All were transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment. Charges are pending against the driver of the Jeep Wrangler. The investigation is still in progress.

Driver of the Jeep Patriot:
James Conan Radziewicz, age 26

Mr. Radziewicz’s passengers in the Jeep Patriot were:

Brian Jones, age 26 (front seat)
James Woodard, age 24 (back seat)

Driver of the Jeep Wrangler (headed the wrong way in the southbound lane)
Kenneth Wayne Starling, age 30
As reported yesterday, charges are pending against Starling.

Both drivers and the two passengers remain hospitalized.
