Former officers guilty in Greene Co. beating
KINSTON, NC (AP) — Three former officers have pleaded guilty to felony charges in the 2008 beating of an inmate at a Greene County correctional institute and have been fined and given suspended sentences.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported the former Maury Correctional Institution staffers admitted conspiring in the beating of David G. Richardson while he was handcuffed and his ankles were shackled.
Capt. Gregory Allen Beck and Sgt. Terry Lynn Bell pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit assault. They were fined $500.
Officer Brian Steve Bostick pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon. He has been fined $2,500.
Each man could have received up to seven years in prison.
