NC trust purchases land along Blue Ridge Parkway

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — The Conservation Trust for North Carolina
has acquired a nearly 13-acre tract of land near the Blue Ridge
Parkway.

The property is located near Cumberland Knob close to milepost
220.6.

A statement by the Raleigh-based group on Monday said the
purchase, also known as Roaring Fork Headwaters II, is a small but
important acquisition in addition to two properties already
protected by CTNC and donated to the National Park Service for
inclusion in the parkway’s official corridor.

The Roaring Fork Headwaters II tract was purchased in 2007 by a
private owner who later put it on the open market. Its dramatic
views and location along an existing road made it desirable for
development.
