Boy says he saw fin before marine animal bit him at Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — New details have been released on a child that suffered a bite by a marine animal yesterday. It happened about 4:00 yesterday afternoon near access number 8 in the vicinity of Moores inlet at Wrightsville Beach.

Police say a 12-year-old boy was about 50 yards offshore in about four and a half feet of water when the boy says he saw a fin. Police say they don’t know if it was a small shark or a fish that left more than a dozen indentations in the boy’s hand.

The victim’s mother says the boy is taking antibiotics and is doing well.
