Child struck and killed by car in Bladen County

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A two-year-old child is dead after being hit by a car near Clarkton.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, it happened just before 3pm on Monday on SR1700, also known as Mercer Mill Brown Marsh Road.

Troopers say the two-year-old old girl wandered into the roadway and was struck by a car heading south on Mercer Mill Brown Marsh Road.

The girl was rushed to the hospital, but died from her injuries.

NCHP say the driver of car was not injured and will not be charged.
