Wilmington man represents NC in Cosmo bachelor contest

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man is in the running for Cosmopolitan Magazine’s Bachelor of the Year contest. Micah Tootoo, 21, is North Carolina’s representative on the list in the issue that hits newsstands Tuesday.

He’s a surf instructor and student at NC State, who calls the Port City home. Tootoo loves spending time with his family and right now the main girl in his life is Miley, a black lab he rescued from a shelter.

“It’s an awesome feeling,” said Tootoo. “I don’t know that I’m necessarily the hottest bachelor, but it’s an honor to be chosen and I’m looking for ward to it.”

So what does this modest bachelor look for in a girlfriend?

“I really just want a girl who is relaxed, not high maintenance, but at the same time is energetic and likes to have fun,” said Tootoo.

52 of the hottest bachelors from all over the country will be featured in the November issue of Cosmo, all competing for the top title of Bachelor of the Year.

“I think it just comes down to who they think is the best over all package as far as the future goes and how they interact with girls, you know just everything that the bachelor should be,” said Tootoo.

You can also check out all the single guys online at http://www.cosmopolitan.com/bachelors-2011 and vote for Tootoo or your favorite from now until October 16. The top 10 bachelors with the most votes will be named semifinalists, and a panel of Cosmo editors will choose one of those lucky guys to be Bachelor of the Year and receive $10,000. The announcement will be made on October 18 when all the bachelors gather in New York City at Arena for the annual Cosmo Bachelor Party hosted by Editor-in-Chief Kate White.

Cosmo says in the November issue, the men describe themselves and reveal what they’re looking for in a girlfriend, including their top turn-ons and dating deal-breakers. The feature also includes e-mail addresses for all the guys, so readers have a chance to connect with them. Plus, this year readers can reach out to the bachelors via Twitter—all they have to do is tweet @CosmoOnline with why their favorite should date them in 140 characters or less.
