Wilmington City Council approves public meeting for voluntary annexation

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington city council members voted in favor of holding a public meeting on the proposed voluntary annexation of a vacant plot near Market Street and Marsh Oaks Drive in Porters Neck.

Development company, Flournoy, wants the city of Wilmington to annex the 27 acres for a future apartment complex.

Flournoy’s attorney and spokesman Tom Johnson told WWAY today, the project will create jobs and help meet the city’s housing needs.

A date and time to hear from the public on the project have not yet been set.
