Brunswick County Commission considers hospital sale, sets date for Warren hearing

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Commission held its regular meeting Monday night. One item on the agenda was the deal for the old community hospital.

The county had hoped to sell the old hospital and about 32 acres of land for $2.5 million. The only bidder, Crown Management of Hope Mills, offered $1.5 million. Brunswick County Commissioners have asked staff members to revisit the bid with Crown Management.

Crown wants to utilize the property as a mental health facility, potentially employing up to 200 people. The county may also consider a lease.

The commission also made a motion for a hearing to be held at a meeting February 20 to review Charles Warren’s actions on the DSS Board, where he is the chairman.
