Data provider Reed Elsevier to add 350 NC jobs

CARY, N.C. (AP) – North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue’s office
says an educational publisher that owns the LexisNexis information
service plans to add 350 jobs over the next five years.

Perdue’s office said Tuesday that data-provider Reed Elsevier
is expanding operations in Cary and will get a
state tax break worth up to $9 million if the company meets hiring
and investment requirements.

The company now employs more than 300 people in Cary and
Charlotte. State officials say wages for the new jobs are expected
to be nearly $92,000 plus benefits. The average annual wage in Wake
County is $45,000.

Reed Elsevier plans to concentrate further marketing, sales,
customer support and product development work in Cary. The company
says the area’s highly educated workforce will make it a “center
of excellence” for LexisNexis.
