Jordan’s former coach arrested again

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The man who coached Michael Jordan at Laney High School is back in jail tonight.

Clifton “Pop” Herring is in the New Hanover county jail under a $600 dollar secured bond for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

This is the second arrest for Herring this year. In January, police arrested him at the same scene where a missing woman’s body was found.

Police say Herring was intoxicated and refused to follow their orders. He was charged with resisting an officer.
