Fire call to Thalian turns out to be misunderstanding

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — If you saw firefighters at Thalian Hall on your way to work this morning, it was all one big misunderstanding.

Just before 8 a.m., firefighters were called to the historic building that is also Wilmington’s city hall after someone reported smoke. However, it turned out to be cement dust from some construction work.

The building does not open until 8 a.m., so only a handful of people had to be evacuated.
