Driver killed in fiery crash in Winnabow

WINNABOW, NC (WWAY) — A man from the Leland area died in a crash in Winnabow late Monday night.

The Highway Patrol says it happened around 10:30 p.m.

Troopers say Travis Norton, 26, was speeding on Funston Road when he lost control and overturned.

Norton was thrown from the vehicle and died.

Troopers say a Sunny Point Officer responded and pulled a passenger from the burning car. Another passenger got out on his own.

The two passengers were not hurt.
