Police: Man shot during attempted armed robbery

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police say officers were called to New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a gunshot victim drove himself to the emergency room.

It happened last night just before midnight.

Police say Joseph Devine, 29, told them he had pulled over in the 100 block of Henry Street after a man flagged him down. That man then pulled out a gun, demanded cash, then fired two shots at the victim.

Devine was hit in the right wrist and left arm.

No money was taken.

The suspect is described as a black male, 180-190 pounds, wearing a black hoodie with a colorful design on the front.
