Boil water advisory issued for parts of Whiteville

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — The City of Whiteville has issued a boil water advisory for the next 24 hours.

The city says it’s due to a water main break in the Pinewood Drive area.

The affected areas include Pinewood Drive, West Burkhead Street, Williamson Street, West Williams Street (west of Stanley Street), Maultsby Drive and Lester Smith Street.

The city says the advisory doesn’t mean the water is contaminated, but rather the possibility exists.

You should boil tap water vigorously for at least one minute prior to using for drinking or cooking. This also includes water for brushing teeth, making ice, washing raw foods, preparing drinks and water for pets.
