Columbus County bus driver accused of abusing child on bus
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Bolton woman who drove a school bus for Columbus County Schools is accused of assaulting a 6 year old child.
According to arrest warrants, Shantel Kemp, 36, abused the child on February 22.
Warrants also state Kemp physically injured the child and scratched the child’s throat. The warrant also states Kemp intentionally assaulted the child that resulted in permanent impairment of any mental and emotion function of the child.
At the time of the assault, Kemp was supervising the child as the child’s bus driver.
She is charged with misdemeanor child abuse and felony child abuse-serious injury.
Kemp is no longer in custody.
WWAY left a message with the Columbus County Schools Superintendent but have not heard back.
