School bus driver terminated after child abuse accusations

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Columbus County school bus driver no longer has a job after her arrest on child abuse charges.

Columbus County Schools Superintendent Alan Faulk says Shantel Kemp was suspended on February 23, the day after the alleged assault took place.

Kemp is charged with misdemeanor child abuse and felony child abuse.

She’s accused of injuring a 6-year-old student.

Faulk says Kemp was terminated March 17.

Kemp is currently out of jail on bond.
