Teacher of the Week: Royanna Jackson

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Royanna Jackson says she has “always been a little jealous of the other teachers who get nominated” for Teacher of the Week.  Now, however she can happily say “it’s nice to feel so honored.”

As a kindergarten teacher at Carolina Beach Elementary School  Ms. Jackson is known for her creativity, kindness and patience.  She also admits that you “kinda have a special personality to teach kindergarten” and “be a little over the top!”

She says her job is to make sure that her student’s first experience with school is wonderful.

Her classroom is a colorful, fun and exciting place for young learners and her class gleefully responds that their big job in school is “learning”.

Ms. Jackson came to teaching later in life, and insists “I knew this is what I was passionate about.  The joy I get teaching these guys to read is just amazing.   It’s wonderful.  I love my job.”

In the end she says she just wants her kids to remember that she made a difference in their lives.
