Sex offender facing rape, kidnapping charges


BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Leland man listed on the NC Department of Public Safety’s sex offender website faces new sexual assault charges.

Bobby Myron Willis, 53, is charged with first degree kidnapping and second degree forcible rape of a homeless woman. According to the arrest warrant, the incident happened on Monday. Willis was arrested today.

He is in the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $700,000 bond.

Willis was previously convicted in 2007 and 2009 for sexual battery.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says Willis is known to go to the old Greyhound bus station and Red Cross St. area in Wilmington. He may also have loitered around homeless shelters in an effort to pursue potentially vulnerable women.
