‘Northside Kids’ bake up a way to help kids with cancer

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) —  They are known as the ‘Northside Kids’ and when faced with a challenge…they baked!

The children were challenged by a Northside Church leader to do a project that benefits others while not expecting anything in return.  The kiddos decided to hold a bake sale and donated the money raised to children battling cancer.

They chose to donate their proceeds to A Kids Hope, a program of Hope Abounds that help children currently going through cancer treatment.

The Bake Sale was held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Life Center at Northside Church during basketball games that were played that day. The girls baked all the goodies themselves and ran the sale from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm. One of the girls also raised a large portion of the money on her own in her neighborhood and added it to the Bake Sale funds.

Shane Becton, Family Pastor at Northside Church, presented Hope Abounds, Inc. with a check totaling $501.54.

Way to go, girls!!!!
