Crashes continue to plague Boardman intersection

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Just hours after we aired a story on WWAY about how worried residents are about what they call a dangerous and deadly intersection in Boardman, there was yet another accident involving three cars.

The NC Highway Patrol says it happened just after 9:00 p.m.

A trooper says two cars were heading west on US 74 when another car crossing the intersection failed to yield and hit the two other cars.

No one was seriously hurt.

Boardman Mayor Randy Williamson says there have been more than 50 crashes at the intersection by the Sun Do gas station over the last eight years. Six of them since April of 2016 have been fatal.
