Wilmington Police searching for BMW driver who hit pedestrian
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating a hit and run that left a pedestrian with broken bones.
Officers and EMS responded to the intersection of Shipyard Boulevard and South 17 Street around 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, after a man was hit by a car while trying to cross the street.
Police say the victim told officers he was walking north on South 17th Street when the suspect turned right onto Shipyard from South 17th street.
The driver allegedly hit the pedestrian on his left side, knocking him to the ground.
The driver then ran over the victim’s foot while speeding away.
Police say the victim called 911 and was able to provide a description of the driver and the vehicle. The victim described the suspect as a white male in his late 20s with dark hair that is “high off his head.” The suspect vehicle is described as a black BMW.
