Should backyard chickens be allowed in Oak Island?

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Oak Island residents are voicing their arguments on whether they should be allowed to own chickens.

At a town council meeting Tuesday night, at least one resident voiced her concern that allowing residents to own chickens could lead to foul smells and increased fecal bacteria running into waters.

After hearing these concerns, town council decided to reschedule the meeting for June.
