Lane closed after tractor trailer overturns, spills cargo

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Fire Department is on the scene of an accident involving an overturned 18 wheeler.

It happened at 354 Raleigh Street near Carolina Beach Road.

Firefighters say the truck spilled some of its cargo, but it was contained to the back of the trailer. It does not pose any danger to people in the area. Firefighters say the main issue is the traffic problem the overturned tanker is causing.

The Wilmington Police Department has closed one lane of Raleigh Street.

People are asked the avoid that area if possible.

Crews will remain on the scene until the truck can be turned upright and removed from the road.

No injures have been reported.
