Whiteville Police and SBI investigating shooting

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — An investigation is underway after a Cumberland County man was shot Sunday night in Whiteville.

It happened in the 100 block of South Martin Luther King Avenue, according to a news release from the Whiteville Police Department.

Police say James Allen Worley was shot in his upper and lower body.

A friend took him to Columbus Regional. He was then taken to New Hanover Regional.

No word on his current condition.

The SBI is helping Whiteville Police with the investigation.
