Tabor Correctional inmate escapes from work detail

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An inmate walked away from his job site in Columbus County today.

Law enforcement officers are searching for Ricky Robinson, a minimum custody inmate from Tabor Correctional Institution.

According to a news release from the NC Department of Public Safety, Robinson was working as a janitor at Columbus Correctional Institution in Whiteville when he walked away from his assignment.

Robinson, 59, is serving a sentence as a habitual felon. He is scheduled for release in June 2021.
