Concert to ‘Get the H out of Wilmington’ planned


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Heart of Wilmington (HOW) is teaming up with the City of Wilmington and local organizations in honor of National Overdose Awareness Day.

The concert event will be held at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater on Thursday, August 31 from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.  The concert is free though organizers will be accepting donations to help HOW continue to make a difference in the community.  HOW’s mission is to “Get the H out of Wilmington” through recovery assistance, education, events and community organization.

Community leaders, including Mayor Bill Saffo, are scheduled to speak on behalf of their organizations and plans to combat the crisis and how the community can help find a solution.

4:00 Gates open
4:30 Medicated Sunfish takes the stage
5:15 Dubtown Cosmonauts take the stage
6:00 Guest Speakers (Mayor, City Council Members)
6:45 Groove Fetish takes the stage
7:45 Local oranization leaders speak, followed by candle vigil
8:30 Local Acoustic Acts
9:00 After Party at Satellite

Other organizations taking part include New Hanover Regional Medical Center, The Penguin, NC Harm Reduction, Greenfield Lake Ampitheater and Satellite Bar and Lounge.
