20th Annual Pink Ribbon Project Luncheon
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Pink Ribbon Project celebrates 20 years in the Cape Fear, all in an effort to help local women in the fight against cancer.
The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation hosted the event at the Wilmington Convention Center. Proceeds help provide free mammograms and diagnostic services to under-served women in the area. The event included a sit-down meal, a purse auction and women could schedule a mammogram. It helps bring members of the community together to support each other and celebrate life.
“You see many of the people here are survivors. They are women who make sure that their friends get mammograms. They are generations of mothers, daughters and grandchildren. So it’s a real celebration of hope and healing and survivor-ship,” Schorr Davis, NHRMC foundation executive director, said.
Since 1998, The Pink Ribbon Project has raised more than $2.1 million through the support of community partnerships, individual donation and events like this one.
