Compass Pointe intersection to get permanent ‘superstreet’

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The Compass Pointe and US 74-76 intersection that claimed the life of a 17-year-old girl last year will eventually be transformed into a permanent superstreet.

The Star News reports the superstreet designation means that all traffic exiting the complex must turn left onto the highway.

An accident at the intersection in 2016 took the life of 17-year-old Lindsay Benton as she attempted to make a right turn onto the highway.

Since the accident, there have been temporary barriers blocking the right turn lane out of Compass Pointe.
