No public bathrooms at Wilmington Riverwalk development yet

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It took several years to develop Blackfinn Ameripub, the Shell, and the still-unopened Vida Mexican Kitchen and Cantina along the Riverwalk in downtown Wilmington.

Part of the original hold-up was a dispute over public bathrooms.

Back in April, the city of Wilmington gave developer Chuck Shoninger three years to build them on the property.

Shoninger says a third party group has architectural control over the property and they denied a location that the developer picked for the restrooms.

Shoninger says he is working with the city and the third party towards a solution.

In the meantime, the restrooms at Blackfinn are available to the public.
