Police response turns into standoff outside Wilmington home

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — After a man barricaded himself inside his home Saturday morning, the SWAT team arrived and after a few hours the man was arrested by Wilmington Police.

According to WPD two shots were fired and negotiators were trying to talk the man down before the standoff ended.

The 1300 block of the area of S. 13th Street in Wilmington was evacuated and nobody was harmed.

The Wilmington Police responded to reports of the man barricaded inside his home at the Houston Moore Terrace on S. 13th Street in Wilmington.

According to a WPD spokesperson, more than a dozen officers were on the scene outside of the home after first responding to a call about a weapons incident Saturday morning around 6 a.m.
