Wilmington man sentenced to at least 10 years in prison for 2014 murder


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man pleaded guilty to second degree murder and malicious conduct by a prisoner charges in court Thursday.

Raheem Floyd was sentenced at least 10 years in prison.

Sha’Quan Malique Boston, who was 20 years old at the time of the shooting, was killed on December 16, 2014. On that day, at about 11 a.m., Boston approached Floyd on the porch of a house on Love Alley. He was confronting Floyd regarding a dispute between Floyd and a friend of Boston’s two days earlier. In an attempt to distract Boston, Floyd told him that the police were right behind him. When Boston turned to look, Floyd shot Boston three times. Floyd then fled and was arrested two days later.

Boston was pronounced dead on the scene.

At the sentencing hearing, Boston’s mother spoke about how beloved her son, whose nickname was Beans, was to his friends and family.
