WPD: 200+ bindles of heroin seized, New Jersey man arrested

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police arrested Nehmiah Thurston Tuesday for trafficking heroin in the Port City.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of N. 6th St. around 9:40 p.m. in reference to a suspicious person. Thurston, 38, of New Jersey, was highly intoxicated.

During a search, officers found 220 bindles of heroin on him. Thurston was placed under arrest and transported to the hospital.

He is charged with trafficking heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and/or distribute heroin and manufacture, sell, distribute, and possess a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school.

Thurston did not receive a bond due to the trafficking charge.
