Battleship receives $10K donation for ongoing cofferdam project

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The USS North Carolina got a big boost to help construct the cofferdam which is now under construction around the famed battleship.

Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage donated $10,000 to the Friends of the Battleship Generations Campaign.

The money will go toward work on the cofferdam which is a watertight structure being built to create a dry around the ship.

When it is complete, crews will be able to repair and restore the ship’s hull. The hull was last repaired in 1953.
