TRAFFIC ALERT: Azalea Triathlon planned for Saturday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 15th annual Azalea Triathlon comes to Wilmington on Saturday. While most of the triathlon will take place on the campus of UNCW, the bike portion will wind through certain parts of the city.

No roads will be closed, but drivers should use caution from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. There may be some traffic delays along the route.

The bike course will start on the UNCW campus. Here’s a look at the course, turn by turn:

• Exit UNCW via Riegel Rd.
• Northbound on Rose Ave. to Clear Run Dr.
• Westbound on Clear Run Dr. to Cardinal Dr.
• Northbound on Cardinal Dr. to Eastwood Rd.
• Eastbound on Eastwood Rd. to Rogersville Rd.
• Southbound on Rogersville Rd. to Wrightsville Ave.
• Westbound on Wrightsville Ave. to MacMillan Ave.
• Northbound on MacMillan Ave to Hamilton Dr.
• Back into UNCW campus to finish

The swim and run portions of the triathlon will take place on the UNCW campus.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the UNCW Swimming and Diving Team.
