Athletic trainers from around the state gather at spring symposium

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Athletic trainers from all over the state converged on Wrightsville Beach this weekend for the North Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association’s spring symposium.

It was an opportunity for athletic trainers to exchange new ideas to bring back to where they practice.

College students were also able to get a taste of what their future career could entail through hands-on demonstrations.

Ashley High School athletic trainer Sadie Thomas says an event like this helps her and her colleagues get better at their craft.

“These parents and guardians send their kids to school and to sports, hoping that they’re gonna be safe and we’re in charge of their life,” Thomas said. “So when they can see that we’re actually actively practicing these skills and networking and learning constantly, I think it can help ease their mind.”

This was the NCATA’s 41st spring symposium.

Athletic trainers all over the country will be celebrated during March as it is National Athletic Training Month.
