WDI hands out $7,500 in grants to downtown businesses

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The new owners of the restaurant formerly known as Riverboat Landing recently received a $5,000 grant from Wilmington Downtown, Incorporated.

The money will help spruce up the outside of the building.

It’s a matching grant so the new owners, 2 Market LLC, will also spend $5,000 putting in new windows, new doors and painting the exterior.

The money for the facade improvement program is raised from municipal service district taxes.

WDI says the goal is to stimulate new investment in downtown and provide an economic incentive for renovating buildings.

$1,500 was budgeted this year for the program.

A previous grant of $2,500 went to Hell’s Kitchen.
