Wilmington celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with annual parade

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The City of Wilmington was feeling lucky on Saturday as it hosted its 24th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade through the heart of downtown. Spectators lined the streets, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of the parade, which featured a lively mix of local businesses, organizations, and community members.

City and county officials joined in the celebration, handing out stickers and spreading the luck of the Irish along Front Street. Local businesses added to the festivities with colorful balloons, live music, and performances that filled the air with energy and excitement.

For parade-goer Samuel Rowell, the event was a perfect example of what makes Wilmington special. “I am thoroughly enjoying myself with my friend. This is what Wilmington is all about. I moved here from Philly, and this is the best place to be,” Rowell said.

After the parade, many attendees, including Rowell and his friends, headed over to Live Oak Pavilion for its Beer, Bourbon, and BBQ event, where the celebration continued into the afternoon.
