New stop lights on Highway 421 to start working Wednesday

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — By the end of the week there will be a new traffic pattern in one area of New Hanover County.

If you are on I-140 and then exit to get onto Highway 421 in New Hanover County, you have probably noticed the stop sign and new flashing lights.

Drivers used to merge onto 421 without stopping then a stop sign was added which led to traffic backing up on the exit ramp.

The NC Department of Transportation just installed new stop lights to help with the flow of traffic.

Right now they are just flashing but by Wednesday they will be working.
