Family’s home a ‘total loss’ after blaze in Sunset Harbor


SUNSET HARBOR, NC (WWAY) — Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire that destroyed a mobile home in Brunswick County Thursday night.

The fire happened at 2854 Cox Landing Road in Sunset Harbor.

Sunset Harbor Volunteer Fire Department Chief Rob Johnson says a passerby reported the fire around 10:15 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, the doublewide was engulfed with flames.

The homeowner and his kids were not home at the time.

Fire crews say the home is a total loss.

About 20 firefighters from Sunset Harbor, St. James, and Supply Volunteer fire departments responded.
