Carolina Beach community comes together for house fire victims

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Carolina Beach community came together over the weekend to help out one family who lost part of their home to a fire last month.

June Brown and her son said someone broke into their home on February 26th and set their couch on fire.

Brown said part of their home was destroyed, but thankfully no one was injured.

Some members of the community came together to help raise money for Brown to help rebuild what was damaged in the fire.

“Carolina Beach people stick together, they help each other and I just couldn’t believe it. They are just so wonderful this is a wonderful place to live. We are just absolutely humbled and are thankful to God and thankful to Carolina Beach and its community,” Brown said.

Brown also said she is thankful to the community for their support. The fundraiser was held at The Last Resort on the island with raffles and live music.
