Wilmington’s 4th of July fireworks display postponed

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The City of Wilmington says their annual 4th of July fireworks display will not happen as usual.

Due to safety considerations around social distancing, mass gatherings and efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the city says the fireworks celebration downtown is being postponed until futher notice.

The city says they will continue to monitor the governor’s guidance regarding mass gatherings and hope to hold the celebration at a later date.
