Columbus Co. man arrested for defacing campaign sign
BOLTON, NC (WWAY) — A Riegelwood man was arrested and charged after Columbus County Sheriff deputies say removing a campaign sign and replacing it with an advertisement.
On Tuesday, deputies was dispatched to the intersection of Green Swamp Road South and Sam Potts Highway in reference to a defaced campaign sign. When deputies arrived, they met the victim, Steadman “Jody” Greene. Greene told deputies that he noticed one of his campaign signs had been vandalized.
Deputies discovered that the suspect, Michael B. Little, 55, of Riegelwood, had removed the campaign sign and replaced it with an advertisement for a local farm. The advertisement displayed a first name and a cell phone number.
Columbus County Sheriff’s Office obtained the suspect’s full name and address from the cell phone number provided on the advertisement.
Little was charged with one misdemeanor count of Steal/Deface/Vandalize/Remove a Political Sign. He was served a criminal summons for the charge Friday.
