Brunswick Co. man charged after allegedly stealing girlfriend’s credit card

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Sunset Beach man faces multiple charges after stealing his girlfriend’s credit card PIN number.

According to the Sunset Beach Police Department, 57-year-old Stephen Harold Curtsinger found his girlfriend’s credit card PIN number in a drawer.

Curtsinger allegedly used her credit card and PIN number at four locations in Little River and Calabash, making nearly $800 in charges and cash withdrawals.

The girlfriend got text notifications from her bank about the unauthorized charges, and she reported the incidents to police on Thursday.

When officers attempted to arrest Curtsinger Friday evening where the couple lives on Sea Bourne Way in Sunset Beach, they say he refused to come out.

Furthermore, police said Curtsinger forced his girlfriend into the bathroom and refused to let her out.

Police forced entry into the home and took Curtsinger into custody.

They also found a printer and check paper on the dining room table in which police say Curtsinger used to print fake checks.

Curtsinger was booked at the Brunswick County Detention Center and is being held on a $150,000 bond.

He’s charged with one count each of forgery and counterfeit of instrument, uttering a forged instrument, identity theft, and second-degree kidnapping.
